About Vaishali Sirkay

Vaishali “Shali” Sirkay is the President of the Santa Clara County School Boards Association (SCCSBA). She has served on the Los Altos School District Bord of Trustees since her election in 2018, serving as Board President in 2021 and 2025.

Shali’s passion lies at the intersection of Public Health and Public Education. A strong proponent of social justice and equity, she has focused her work on systems-level, assets-centered approaches to addressing individual and community needs. She has a long history of advocating for underserved communities. In addition to her work in LASD and SCCSBA, she is the current Vice Chair of the Santa Clara County Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC), where she chairs the Education Committee and serves on several committees.

Shali moved to the Bay Area from New York City in 2002. She has one child who went through LASD and is now in college. She holds a Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine and a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Barnard College at Columbia University.

Through her service and leadership in SCCSBA, LASD, JJC, and various nonprofit boards, Shali is committed to supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of children and families in Santa Clara County.
